humbly hung up the phone. Oh, I met him a couple 
of times but not in any important or meaningful 
way and when I was studying philosophy in 
Newfoundland, there was a McLuhan fanatic who 
was teaching a course and I took an intense dislike 
to him too, so that may have added to my 
unfortunate non-bonding with McLuhan.


Q:  If a lot of interest in McLuhan in the ’90s is 
coming from the States, I’m curious about your 
thoughts as to what kind of Canadian McLuhan 
was and whether his perspective was at all 
uniquely Canadian?
